How to create porn for a diverse audience

Although the Pride month is long gone, the LGBTQIA+ issues in our world are still just as relevant and important to discuss. One of these issues that the adult industry holds close to its chest is the lack of inclusivity in porn.

And I’m not only talking about the limited body shapes and colors that big production companies chose to cast. When entering a porn site (especially if it is a tube site), it is clear to see that most porn is created only with a straight, cis male audience in mind.

Over the years, both as a porn content creator and a consumer, I’ve noticed how hard it is to find porn that I would truly enjoy. Not everyone is into millions of POV videos featuring an anonymous dick fucking a petite, eighteen-year-old spinners.

And I can’t be the only one, right? With most of the adult content being geared towards straight cis males, what about the rest of us? Women, non-binary and trans people have sexual needs too. Yet, porn for this audience is way harder to find.

Have you noticed that often times even lesbian porn is made for the male gaze? Sigh. You’re not fooling anyone with these long, acrylic nails. Fingering must be a really uncomfortable process with them.

However, what if I told you that as a content creator, you have the power to make a change? Yes, you. No matter how big or small your following is, you can start making more inclusive porn today.

Of course, I can already hear the doubts in your mind. What if it doesn’t sell? What if there is no demand for this type of content? Many of us might have heard that porn is made for men. It’s a man’s thing. Very few women, non-binary and trans people watch porn because they’re simple not interested in this type of perversion. But this couldn’t be further from the truth.

As a woman, I can say that I would definitely watch more porn if there was more porn made with me as a consumer in mind. And I’m sure that everyone who’s feeling left out here would agree with me.

The demand will follow the supply. Once more creators will start making more inclusive porn, the audience will diversify as well. Perhaps, you have your doubts because you’re not a big studio star or even have hundreds of thousands of followers on social media. And that’s okay.

It doesn’t matter nearly as much as you think it does. Every amateur content creator, including you, can start making the change today. But, where do you even start? Here are some realistic ideas on how to make your sexy content more inclusive.

  1. Follow trans, enby and queer activists and performers. Listen to them, take in their perspective and be sensitive to their issues. When you truly understand your audience, you can make porn that portrays their sexual fantasies in the most truthful way possible.

  2. Substitute gendered words for gender-neutral ones. For example, instead of ‘pussy’ or ‘ass’, use the word ‘hole’.

  3. Create a list of gender-neutral terminology to use in your videos. How do women, enby and trans people like to talk about their own bodies? Use that.

  4. Consider casting and/or collaborating with more queer, enby and trans performers.

  5. Be open to experimentation. You can definitely create more of the type of porn that you would like to see! If something doesn’t take off on the first try – change something and try again. Your efforts are not in vain.

Truly, creating a porn for a more diverse audience can be easier than you think. Maybe you can start with a popular fantasy people have, such as a teacher and a student or a nurse and a patient, and change a couple of things to make it relevant for someone who isn’t a cis straight male.

Or, as a woman, enby or trans person yourself, you could film some sexy videos from your point of view, exploring your gorgeous body. Another idea could be filming a sexy JOI video that is completely gender-neutral. Don’t talk about dicks and assholes. Use the word ‘hole’ instead. Let the viewer insert themselves in the video.

Last but not least – watch some inclusive porn yourself. And no, not the massive studio made stuff that is all perfect and polished, but likely aimed at cis straight men yet again.

Explore amateur content creators and indie studios who are making porn for diverse audiences.

Some good examples that you might want to check out are Trouble Films by Courtney Trouble, Bellessa, XConfessions by Erika Lust, Four Chambers, Jiz Lee, CrashPad Series and Ersties.

But this is just the start. I’m sure that you can find your favorite female, non-binary and trans creators and studios on your favorite porn sites as well.

Now – go on! Make this world a better place by creating some awesome porn for your female, non-binary and trans friends!
