5 Things Humans Can Learn From Animals

What Can We Learn?

Humans are amazing creatures, but when it comes to sex & relationships, there’s a lot we can learn from other animals. Whether it’s a call to embrace your primal passion, or a reminder to be tender after a session of feral lovemaking, some animals have definitely got some lessons to teach us.

Are you ready to get in touch with your wild side? Because this article is about 5 things that humans can learn from animals.

1. Make a Display

As part of its attempts to attract a mate, the male Bowerbird creates a beautiful structure purely for sex. After they’re done with the framework, the Bowerbird decorates these well-constructed structures with colorful objects, color coordinating for extra charm.

Sometimes it’s just really nice to set the scene. Before a romantic date take some time to set up a room with appealing items and objects for the night up ahead. Make sure you customize these items as much as is possible. Perhaps put a soundtrack on too. Bowerbirds like to finish off their love shack with a melody after all.

Just remember; the goal is to make a space which is totally dedicated to your lover. This is your chance to show them just how much you care.

2. Put On A Show

Peacocks have a dazzling display of feathers for attracting a mate and, when the time comes, they flare up their feathers and wiggle their rear ends to get the potential of surrounding peahens. Jumping spiders also do intricate mating rituals which involve a display of different dance moves, and you haven’t lived until you’ve seen a male Red-Capped Manakin moonwalk for love.

While pulling out the moves shouldn’t be a prerequisite to every sexual encounter sometimes it can be great fun to put on a show for your partner.

Dress in some flashy lingerie put on some music and bust out a few of your best moves. Let go of your inhibitions and just enjoy the moment. If a spider can make jazz hands look stylish then you should have no problems.

3. Give Each Other Gifts

In perhaps one of my favorite displays of animal affection male Gentoo Penguins spend ages finding what they think are the perfect pebbles: considering smoothness, size, shape, and their own general preference. Once they’ve selected their pebbles the male then goes and presents them to his chosen partner as a ‘love token’. If she accepts, then the two take these pebbles and build a nest out of them.

Gift giving shouldn’t be the be-all and end-all of a relationship, but little presents and displays of affection can make all of the difference. Find small ways to show each other your affection. Gift each other little trinkets and do small little gestures to show how much you love each other. Take those displays and build a life out of them together. Gentoo Penguin Style.

4.Share the Burden

Seahorses are almost perfect examples of a classic romance. They pair for life. Each morning they meet each other and do a little courtship display, they link tails and they spend hours together. They then part ways after bonding, respecting each other’s personal space.

However one of the things that seahorses are most iconic for is the male’s ability to carry the babies. Yes: When the time is right the female seahorse will transfer her eggs to the male, which he then fertilizes and carries to full term.

Male pregnancy aside, the collaborative nature of seahorse couples is definitely worth learning from. When your partner is struggling don’t be afraid to help them take on the load, check in with them every day, but also give them the space they need to find their feet.

Support each other through thick and thin and you’ll be one step closer to a seahorse relationship (minus the male pregnancy).

5. Don’t Be Afraid To Experiment

Bonobos are well-known among the scientific community for their liberal approaches to sex. Bonobos have orgies, they don’t worry too much about what else their sexual partner gets up to, and orgasm isn’t always the finishing line for them. They also experiment with sex and food.

Despite these sexual acts seeming drastic to some Bonobos also kiss, hold hands, and gaze into each other’s eyes while they have sex. As a result of all of these actions, Bonobos have been shown to live low-stress, high-quality lives.

Jumping on the orgy bandwagon may be too extreme for some but taking a light-hearted approach to sex is definitely advisable. Experiment, try new things, don’t always aim for the orgasm and don’t judge your partner for their preferences.

So what are you waiting for? Take some animal inspiration and apply it to your love life. If you’re able to do all of these things, then the benefits will soon become apparent.
