The Best Cities for Singles

In celebration of National Singles day, everyone around the world will soon be reminded of why being single may be one of the most important and exciting times of your life. However, some cities are certainly much more fun to live ‘The Single Life.’

Whether it’s the abundance of restaurants, bars or nightlife hotspots that make the perfect place for a unique first date, or the number of single people in a local neighborhood. There are many reasons why some cities are better for singles than others. Let this list guide you through the top 10!

10. Dublin, Ireland

Why not luck for leprechauns as-well-as romance during National Singles Day this year? Dublin has one of the liveliest pub scenes in the world – and there’s nowhere better to sink a cold pint of Guinness than in the Irish capital. According to Tinder, Dublin is one of the most active cities in the world when it comes to people swiping right on the app. If you fancy your chances of finding a perfect Tinder match in the tranquillity of Ireland, Dublin’s the place for you.

9. Las Vegas, USA

You know how that ol’ saying goes? "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". That’s why it’s one of the greatest places in the world for single people. Every night is a constant party and according to statistica.com, it’s a place that attracts over 40 million visitors a year. That means you’ll never find yourself lost for someone to chat with at the bar – or casino. It is Vegas, after all.

8. Berlin, Germany

When most people think about visiting Berlin, they probably imagine the hundreds of cultural hotspots that the city has to offer. The history of Berlin is rich and diverse, but counterculture and social change has transformed Berlin’s music scene into the renowned techno-shrine that it has become today. Contrary to its past, the people of Berlin are at the forefront of open and sensual sexual intimacy and erotic play, with an array of sex clubs to boot. Perhaps you’ll find your true love in the darkroom of KitKat or Berghain. Who knows?

7. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Rio is a city that pulsates and shimmies with the vibrancy of the samba. It is also one of the most fun cities in the world. From carnival to street-markets, to hiking or swimming. You will never run out of things to do in the rich landscape and culture of Brazil.  Let the natural landscape of Rio make the perfect backdrop for any blossoming romance, as well as being a cheap date.

6. Liverpool, England

They call it the musical capital of the world. But another thing that makes Liverpool a jewel on the West Coast of England, is the people who live there. Liverpudlians, or ‘Scousers’ as they are widely known, have been ranked numerous times as some of the friendliest people on the planet.

According to a survey reported by the Liverpool Echo, people in Liverpool are also the kindest in the UK. It is also an incredibly cheap city to live in, with your average pint (500 ml) of lager setting you back at about £2.70, which is about $3.50. Friendly locals, cheap drinks and a great music scene – the perfect combination for single people.

5. Washington D.C, USA

The political hub of America is perhaps one of the most beautiful and eloquent cities in the U.S. Widely known for its wide array of museums, memorials, and culture, Washington never fails to disappoint. According to census data, it also has the most single people living there than anywhere else in the U.S.A.

Which might make it easier to find that special someone. If you fancy trying your luck in D.C this National Singles Day, there’s never been a better time to go.
