Play together, Stay together!
Would you like to play a game? If the answer is yes, then you are in the right place! Today I am going to teach you a game that you can play with your partner, whether you live in the same city or on different continents. This is a perfect long-distance date idea for you and your lover to enjoy.
What each of you will need is a Smartphone that can record Video, ideally with an app installed that will allow you to share your footage (Whatsapp, Telegram or Facebook Messenger to name a few), some card and a pen (colored card and marker pens are best, but anything will do). If you have other means to talk to one another if you are apart, for instance, a computer or a tablet, that would be helpful too.
If you are at all familiar with the concept of Tic Tac Toe, then this should be no problem for you.
Foreplay
Then taking it in turns, you each choose a task. Write the task in the next space available on the grid, filling it out from the top left down to the bottom right, much like the way you would read a book.
Your tasks can be anything of a romantic nature and is limited to whatever you are comfortable with. To give you a bit of help, here are a few suggestions to get you started.
Sing along with “Our” song.
Talk to a complete stranger for 5 minutes, and once done, have them tell the camera what your good points are.
Tell a complete stranger you love me (Use my name, no chickening out!)
Take me to a place that is important to you and, whilst you are there, tell me why it matters to you
Take me to a place that you think I will like and, whilst there, tell me why you think I would like it
Take me for a walk in a forest
Prepare your favorite dish, whilst explaining to me how you do it.
Sit with me by a fireside and tell me about your day
Take me for a moonlit stroll by a lake
Or anything else you can think of. Remember, make it as romantic as possible!
The Quest
Once the grid is full, you have 24 hours to complete as many of the tasks as possible. Not just the tasks you assigned, all of them. Using the video camera, you must record completion of any and all tasks for their completion to be valid.
So, you could complete “Take me for a walk in the forest” by going for a walk and having the video camera recording as you go. And don’t forget to talk to the camera!
Obviously, don’t set any tasks that are illegal or unsafe and be aware of each other’s comfort levels, but otherwise pretty much anything goes.
The Big Finish
Once completed and the 24 hours are up, you come back together with your grids, and maybe you dial up your computer or tablet to use the video camera on that so you can see each other, keeping your phone free for sharing the footage.
You then play Tic Tac Toe. However, it isn’t as simple as just putting you X or O in the desired space on the grid. If you want to make a mark then you need to share the footage for the corresponding task with your partner – this is when you share it. Having shared your exploits in the name of romance, you may then make your mark on the grid.
There is no scoring in this game, it is just a bit of fun, though the game ends when one player gets a line of three or no further legal moves are possible.
And that is it.
Here is a quick summary for you.
Foreplay
Where you, as a couple, set up the terms of the game. Make your tasks as romantic or as sexy as you are both comfortable with, and enjoy doing it together.
The Quest
Now, you have 24 hours to complete and film as many of these tasks as possible. Have fun doing this! Be as romantic or as silly as possible. You’ll see why in a minute.
The Big Finish
Play the Game, making your mark as in Tic Tac Toe but only making moves that are legal, as in making marks on spaces where you have completed a task. Don’t forget the purpose of this game is to have fun together, even when apart. Sharing the footage recorded should be more than about getting a mark on a board, it is about making each other smile. If you spend half an hour enjoying a thirty-second clip together, then you both win by default.
Who knows, maybe more than smiling happens once the game ends? Maybe the game doesn’t finish…
Have fun and be good to one another.
