The most loved, beautiful and lube filled month of the year has begun!
We are sure you are all enjoying Masturbation Month.
And we are certain that some of you may ask yourselves, 'There has to be a story about how this self-pleasure month began', right?
It all started in the United States of America in 1994. Joycelyn Elders, who was then, appointed Surgeon General of the United States, was asked about masturbation at the UN meeting on AIDS. Is it okay to promote masturbation to young people? Will it stop them from taking part in sexual activities?
Elders said that it is part of human sexuality. It should be part of sex education. This made the attendees very upset. They didn’t like her views on other topics before. Her point of view was the cherry on top for them. She was forced to resign from the administration.
After all the hysteria, in 1995 a sex shop called Good Vibrations stepped up. They were shocked by what happened to Dr. Joycelyn Elders during the UN meeting. Good Vibrations declared then, that the month of May will be known as Masturbation Month. They agreed that masturbation should be taught to young people. As this sounds like the most sensible thing a government official has said. Soon after, "National Masturbation Month" became "International Masturbation Month". This was done so that everyone around the world could celebrate.
The aim was to raise awareness on the importance of masturbation. It’s safe, it’s healthy, it’s free and it’s pleasurable. Masturbation Month lets us focus on how great, natural, common and fun it is.
The month of May was picked because it is seen as a symbol of sexual awakening. Also, May and Masturbation start with the letter ‘M’.
From then on, Masturbation Month has been acknowledged and accepted around the world.
Here at Kiiroo, we know that masturbation is part of human sexuality, and we want to encourage self-pleasure and masturbation.
